About the Program
The Mesa Hometown Heroes Banner Program is a tribute created for the community to honor fallen service members, veterans, and active-duty service members of the United States Armed Forces. As a community we take pride in recognizing and celebrating their dedication to our country. The banners are displayed on streetlamps in Downtown Mesa during the Memorial Day and Veterans Day holidays. This program is offered by the Mesa Chamber of Commerce, in conjunction with the City of Mesa, Downtown Mesa Association and the Program Sponsors.
Applicant Qualifications
The applicant or the service member must be a Mesa resident or work in Mesa.
Banner Details
Banners include the service member’s name, branch of service, and photo (if provided). The banner size is approximately 2.5 feet by 4.5 feet (this may vary by placement).
The Banner is Displayed Twice in the Year
The banner is placed on display twice during the year, in May and November. Applicants may not choose the placement of their banner. Banners are typically displayed for 14 days for each display period. Following the second display (November), the banner will be given to the applicant during a Veteran recognition event in November. Applications will be reviewed on a first-come, first-served basis by the Mesa Veterans Program, a committee of the Mesa Chamber of Commerce.
Banner Costs
There is no cost for a banner to honor a Veteran. All costs are covered by donations from generous Mesa Chamber of Commerce member sponsors. You can connect with the Chamber about becoming a sponsor via email.
